THE APPRENTICESHIP LEVY


The Apprenticeship Levy began in April 2017 and affects all large organisations with an annual payroll of over £3 million, whether they currently employ Apprentices or not. It will be payable by employers in the UK at the rate of 0.5% of their payroll through PAYE alongside Income Tax and National Insurance.

HOW WE CAN HELP


All employers, whether they are Levy paying or not, will be financially supported by the government with regards to Apprenticeship training. If your payroll is under £3 million, Aspire Education can help you manage your Apprenticeship training requirements and support you in finding your skills shortages to improve your workforce. The cost to employers is 10% of the agreed qualification price, with the government providing the additional 90%. Employers can also receive a £1000 payment for recruiting an apprentice aged 16-18 or 19-24 who have previously been in care or who have a Local Authority Education, Health and Care plan. 

Public sector organisations will also pay the Apprenticeship Levy if their payroll meets the above criteria and, in addition, 2.3% of their workforce must be Apprentices.
