Apprenticeship Employment Costs

Below is an example of how you can calculate the wage you would pay your new apprentices. The calculation also includes the AGE Grant which is applicable to companies with less than 50 employees.

The example below is based on the minimum requirements for employing an apprentice which are:

  • HOURS - Apprentices must be employed a minimum of 30 hours per week and up to a maximum of 37
  • DURATION - Apprentices must be employed for a minimum 52 weeks continuous
  • RATE OF PAY - Apprentices must be paid at least the national minimum wage for apprentices = £2.73
